What You’ll Be Doing
Execute the electrical installation of solar PV systems, including mounting and wiring solar panels, inverters, batteries, cable tray and associated equipment in accordance with design specifications and local electrical codes.
Safely connect solar systems to the building’s electrical network and the grid. Install and commission switchgear, circuit breakers, generation meters, and other components to integrate the solar setup seamlessly with existing infrastructure.
Conduct thorough testing of installed systems. Verify proper voltages, currents, and system performance using appropriate testing instruments. Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical issues or wiring errors to ensure the system functions optimally before handover.
Rigorously adhere to all electrical safety standards and Solgrid’s safety protocols. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures when necessary. Ensure every installation complies with national electrical regulations and passes any required inspections or certifications (for example, completing verification tests for grid connection compliance).
Take pride in delivering neat, well-organized electrical work. Label circuits, tidy conduits/cabling, and ensure the finished installation not only functions well but also reflect Solgrid’s commitment to quality. Address any on-site modifications with the design team and document changes accurately.
Occasionally perform maintenance checks or service calls for existing solar installations. Diagnose issues (if systems underperform or experience faults) and carry out repairs or upgrades as needed, minimising downtime for the customer’s solar generation.
Interact professionally with clients when on-site. Explain basic system operations or answer simple questions the customer may have during or after installation, thereby enhancing the customer-centric experience. Refer any complex queries back to project managers or engineers as appropriate.
